Decade of the Kriola

For Poderoza 2020, we took the bold step of declaring this year the beginning of the "Decade of the Kriola" in order to issue a challenge to Kriolas to take action to empower one another, to build institutions that affirm us and our communities, to actualize their dreams and aspirations. We invite you to create policies, platforms, and public works (academic, literary, arts-based, tech, etc.) that celebrate our existence and defend our rights and dignity as human beings. As with similar campaigns, this one aims to both highlight existing initiatives by women of Cabo Verdean descent and to inspire new efforts. We hope that you will join us by tagging posts and people that you feel are relevant to this work with the following two hashtags: #Poderoza and #DecadeoftheKriola - Doing this will enable us to build our archive and community as we move forward in the Decade of the Kriola through the Poderoza Conference and Movement.
